Stella McCartney funds Fashion Scholarship

Speaking at the College's graduation ceremony, where she received an Honorary Fellowship, Stella described her own time as a student at Central Saint Martins as "life-changing" and said:
"To get to a College like this is so hard for so many talented young people. For that reason, I am setting up this scholarship and I encourage other fortunate fashion houses to do the same."
The Stella McCartney Scholarship will fund home, EU and international MA Fashion students on the basis of academic excellence and financial need. The scholarship will also include a one year paid placement working at Stella McCartney fashion house.
In line with Stella’s commitment to animal rights, students who win the scholarship will commit to not use fur, leather or products that harm animals as part of their work.
Welcoming the scholarships, Professor Jane Rapley OBE, Head of Central Saint Martins, said:
"Stella has long been a huge supporter of Central Saint Martins, but she has really taken our breath away with this immensely generous funding. She is a perfect example of how innate talent can be unlocked and nurtured by a creative education. She also shows why it's vital that we do so - her work underpins the UK's standing as the world's creative capital, which is as crucial to our economy as it is to our reputation.
Thanks to the Stella McCartney Scholarship, talented and ambitious young people will have the opportunity to establish amazing careers and re-shape the way we see the world, just as Stella has done. Our enormous thanks go to her."
